Huawei have built a reputation throughout the years for making solid devices that don’t disappoint. The RBM HD, measuring 120 x 62 x 11.6 mm, and weighing130 grams is a comfortable phone in hand. The 3.8 inch screen and Android navigation buttons dominate the front of the handset while the back features a soft-touch plastic with a custom Red Bull themed graphic in white and a 5 mega-pixel camera with an LED flash.
To the right of the camera is a single speaker a volume rocker while the top has an easy to press power button and a standard 3.5mm headphone jack.
The display on this device is a 3.8-inch capacitive TFT-LCD, with a resolution of 480◊800 pixels offers bright colours and clear text with a responsive touch sensor. The display is multi-touch capable, but only allows for a maximum of two points of touch at a time.
The Wi-Fi connectivity has good range and allows the phone to be used as a mobile hotspot, while the Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP operates as a hands-free kit effectively and efficiently. The cellular radio on the RBM HD is full HSDPA, making good use of Cell C’s high-speed network.
The RBM HD features an 800Mhz ìScorpionî Processor, based on the Qualcomm MSM 7230 chipset, and a separate Adreno 205 GPU in addition to the 512MB of RAM which results in a fast paced and responsive device even when playing 3D games utilising OpenGL. The battery life is rated at 350 hours on stand-by, and 4 hours of heavy use and boasts a 4GB internal ìSD cardî, which can be expanded up to 32GB with an additional external card.
The RBM HD runs Android 2.2.1 (Froyo) with Flash 10.1 supported as well as the newest Google applications (GMail, Maps, etc.) There are also a number of Red Bull applications pre-installed including a sports timer, and a 3D motorcycle game.
The RBM C, measuring106 mm x 57 mm x 14 mm and weighing 110 grams is similar in many ways to the RBM HD. The handset features a 2.8î touch screen with 320×240 resolution and boasts a 3.2 megapixel camera.
The RBM C also offers a host of google applications, and runs on Google Android OS. This handset also offers GPS, FM Radio and connectivity via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth V2.1+DER. The C offers 512MB of integrated memory expandable up to 16MB.
Both Red Bull Mobile contracts offer a host of features available exclusively to them including the Red Bull Music Academy Radio where users can access exclusive songs, live-performances, interviews, mixes and music-shows directly on the device. The Hot Spot Viewer users can find Red Bull events, the best restaurants or all Red Bull MOBILE Shops.
Red Bull Mobile community allows users to get additional information from sources such as Wikipedia or Qype and upload everything to Facebook, Flickr, Twitter or Youtube.
Red Bull X-Fighters is a custom Red Bull 3D game that offers a challenge for users to perform stunts, with great graphics and cinematics and is available on RBM HD only.
Red Bull Coach allows RBM customers to record all sports activities via GPS, whether running, biking, cycling or surfing. Speed, distance and time are then evaluated and tracked.
Red Bulls contract offers on the back of Cell C are suitable candidates for the lower end contract market with great value for money in services offered as a standard part of the contract as well as solid built, reliable and user friendly handsets.
